Melissa McGaughey

A Food Network champion and operator behind multiple high-performing bakeries, Melissa McGaughey blends pastry precision with brand, design, and business execution.

Melissa McGaughey has spent over 16 years in the hospitality industry, building a career that bridges pastry, operations, and brand development. Her culinary foundation began at a young age baking alongside her grandmother, eventually leading her to formal pastry training and the launch of her first bakery in Denver at just 23 years old.

She went on to lead and contribute to pastry programs for acclaimed establishments including Bien Cuit in New York and Gjusta in Los Angeles, refining her approach to high-quality, technique-driven baking. After relocating to Northern California, she served as Hotel Pastry Chef at SingleThread, one of the country’s most celebrated culinary destinations, while also producing for farmers’ markets, hotels, and wineries.

In 2019, McGaughey gained national recognition as the winner of Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship, further establishing her as a standout talent in the pastry world.

In 2020, she and her partner Sean McGaughey launched Quail & Condor, a retail bakery that quickly built a strong following through a disciplined, product-focused approach. Building on that success, the duo expanded with the opening of Troubadour Bread & Bistro in 2022, translating their vision into a broader dining format.

In December 2025, Melissa partnered with Sean McGaughey and chef Matthew Vawter to open Threefold Bakery in Breckenridge, Colorado, marking their expansion beyond Sonoma County.

Beyond the kitchen, McGaughey brings deep expertise in brand development, product photography, social media strategy, copywriting, retail design, and team leadership. Her ability to integrate culinary execution with business and brand systems has been central to the sustained growth and success of her concepts.
