Founded in its modern form in 2017, AXR is led by winemaker Jean Hoefliger, whose approach emphasizes site expression and disciplined craftsmanship. The name “AXR” references the AxR rootstock, a nod to Napa Valley’s agricultural history and its lasting influence on the region.

AXR focuses on Bordeaux varietals, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from both estate vineyards and select sites across Napa Valley. This approach allows for a broader expression of terroir while maintaining consistency in quality and style.
