A pioneering Mexican-American winemaker in Paso Robles, Edgar Torres is redefining California wine through cultural identity, minimal intervention, and bold expression.
Edgar Torres is a Paso Robles–based winemaker and the founder of Bodega de Edgar, a label that reflects his Mexican heritage and a commitment to expressive, site-driven wines. As a pioneering Mexican-American winemaker shaping Paso Robles, Torres has built a reputation for crafting wines that challenge convention while honoring both tradition and place.
Raised in California and deeply influenced by his cultural roots, Torres developed his winemaking philosophy through hands-on experience in Paso Robles, where he became known for his intuitive approach and willingness to push boundaries. His work emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing vineyards and varietals to speak clearly through each bottle.
Through Bodega de Edgar, Torres produces wines that are both vibrant and unconventional, often highlighting lesser-known varietals and blends that reflect the diversity of the region.
In addition to Bodega de Edgar, Torres founded Songs Wines, a personal project inspired by music and storytelling, where each release reflects a creative and expressive approach to winemaking rooted in his early influences.
Torres continues to advocate for greater representation and diversity within the wine industry, using his platform to elevate new perspectives while producing wines that reflect both personal story and regional character.
