Nicole Jarman: Big Picture Event Planning

NICOLE JARMAN IS THE KIND of person you want to have in charge from the very first planning meeting of an event to the moment the last guest leaves. Because while everything might be planned to the tiniest detail, you never know what might happen. Mother Nature can play havoc with outdoor events. A global pandemic can not only postpone an event, but also require it to be reimagined from top to bottom.

Jarman is the founder of Hob Nob Events, a Denver-based company that produces everything from farmers’ markets and fund-raisers to multiday festivals like Steamboat Food & Wine, which will be held this year Sept. 23-26. What sets her participation in such events apart is that she strives to create an authentic experience, not only for the festival attendees, but for the chefs and winemakers as well. She’ll have a chef and a butcher collaborate on a dinner at this year’s Steamboat event, for example.

Head Up to Telluride Reserve

Telluride Reserve is a 3-day food and wine affair in and around Mountain Village that encourages guests to connect with creators in the culinary and vitner world. The 2023 event will be held August 17-19.

“We are incredibly thoughtful about the curation of the event,” says Nicole Jarman, founder, executive director, curator of Telluride Reserve and owner of Jarman & Co. Events.

Jarman and her team took over the event in 2023 after it was on hiatus for several years. It was first launched in 2019 before COVID with a totally different team, and Jarman is building a brand-new iteration of the event after taking over the name.

Some wineries begin with generations of vineyards.
Others begin with investors and business plans.
Innumero began with a joke.
Or at least, something close to one.
After spending the day tasting wine throughout Sonoma, Brian Thornsberry asked his oldest son, Jack, whether he and his wife Sheree should start a winery of their own.
Jack didn’t hesitate.
“Of course you should. You guys are above average people.”
