Matteo Pola is the son of Aldo Pola, the owner of the Fontanabianca winery.
Since he was a child, together with his brother and mother, Matteo worked alongside his father at his job in the cellar. Even though he was young, the harvest was an important event, almost a ritual and a celebration to enjoy before going back to school. Growing up, Matteo understood more and more that his father's journey would also be his own.
After graduating from high school, Matteo graduated in Chemistry-Oenological and after a 3-year period at a wine analysis laboratory located in Alba he decided to take over full-time in the company. Founded in 1969, Fontanabianca celebrates the 50th Anniversary in 2019. With this anniversary, Fontanabianca is putting the the final touches on the large of the old cellar to have an optimal place for work , incorporating current technologies offering those who want to visit their "home" the best welcome.
Matteo is a passionate supporter of the soccer team of the Barbaresco region, Juventus. While remaining a soccer fan, Matteo is also active in the Piedmontese sport of “Pallapugno,” a sport similar to tennis, volleyball and handball, but with no racket or net, just the use of your hand wrapped in a bandage for protection.
Matteo, is a simple person, raised in a simple family, Matteo puts all his passion - as he does in sport - into his work.
As Confucius said: “do something you like and you will never work a single day of your life”. And Matteo really loves what he does.
