Caymus Vineyards is rooted in Napa Valley farming traditions that trace back to the Wagner family’s arrival in the region in the 1850s. Founded in 1972 by Charlie and Lorna Wagner, Caymus was built on the belief that exceptional wine begins in the vineyard, where careful farming, patience, and a deep respect for the land shape every vintage. Today, Chuck Wagner continues that legacy, working with estate vineyards and select Napa Valley sites to produce wines that reflect both the region and the family’s enduring commitment to quality.
Best known for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Caymus has become one of Napa Valley’s most iconic wineries through a consistent focus on ripe fruit, richness, and approachability. Vineyard management and harvest decisions are guided by close observation of each growing season, allowing every vineyard block to reach optimal maturity before the fruit is carefully crafted into wines of depth, balance, and character.
In exceptional vintages, Caymus also produces its acclaimed Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, the only wine to have twice been named Wine Spectator‘s “Wine of the Year.” This limited bottling represents the finest expression of the vintage, showcasing the concentration, elegance, and longevity that have helped define Caymus for more than five decades.
Today, Caymus remains one of Napa Valley’s defining Cabernet Sauvignon producers, honoring generations of family farming while continuing to craft wines that celebrate the richness, generosity, and enduring character of one of the world’s great wine regions.
